Sparano May Be On Borrowed Time

MIAMI (CBS4) - The Miami Dolphins have one game left to go this season; but at this point they may as well lose and improve their draft positioning for 2011. Fins owner Stephen Ross now has to make the decision on whether to blow up the coaching staff or accept mediocrity.

The Fins' offensive offense put together another putrid performance on Sunday on the way to a loss to the Detroit Lions. The fans at Sun Life Stadium booed the performance the Fins put forth on Sunday, which rubbed Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder the wrong way.

"Fair weather fans," Crowder told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel when asked about the booing he and his teammates have heard regularly this season. "Real fans keep cheering. I saw fans keep cheering…. That's their decision, but it's silly. They are fair weather fans."

For those fans who have watched the Dolphins at home this season, they have reason to boo and likely direct some of the anger at Crowder for not having a bigger impact. In 2010, Crowder has played in 10 games, has 29 tackles, and zero sacks.

"I feel as frustrated as any fan," Ross reiterated to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald. He declined to discuss the futures of Coach Tony Sparano and general manager Jeff Ireland; instead saying that he's "starting to evaluate now."

Ross said he wouldn't base his opinions solely on the Dolphins latest loss. But, Ross has plenty to judge the Fins on this season. Against the best teams in the league, the Dolphins came up woefully short, with the exception of a road win against the New York Jets.

During his Monday press conference Sparano said that when he and Ross meet after the season, what happens will be between the two of them.

"That will stay between Mr. Ross and I and any of those plans," Sparano said. "I did visit with Mr. Ross on the phone. We did have a conversation so that will stay between us. I look forward to him, yes."
