BSO Deputy Forced To Shoot Pit Bull

WEST PARK (CBS4) - A Broward Sheriff's deputy was forced to shoot a pit bull when it attacked a couple early Sunday morning in West Park.

It happened just after 9 a.m. in a home on SW 26th Street and 40th Avenue. Broward Sheriff's spokeswoman Dani Moschella when deputies arrived at the home to check out a call about a dog bite, they found a woman outside with a vicious bite to her arm. When they walked inside the house they found a man with a pit bull clinging from his arm.

Moschella said the man was yelling "Please shoot the dog" has he tried to shake him off his arm. Not wanting anyone else to be attacked, a deputy shot and killed the dog.

The man and woman, both of who live in the home, told deputies they were watching the dog for a few days for a friend of theirs who lives in Miami-Dade County where it's illegal to own one.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue treated both people on scene and took the injured woman to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Moschella said the man didn't want to go to the hospital but will likely require further medical treatment at some point.
