Miramar Detective Hospitalized After Run In With Car

MIRAMAR (CBS4) - A Miramar Police detective is recovering after being struck by a car while conducting an investigation Thursday night.

Miramar police spokesperson Tania Rues says the detective was walking up to a home in the area of 68th Avenue and Southwest 26th Street at around 7 p.m. when the car drove toward him.

The detective reportedly instructed the driver to stop, but the driver continued forward, striking the detective. The detective pulled out his weapon and fired several shots at the car, which fled the scene.

Emergency crews transported the detective to a local hospital with minor injuries.
