Seijas Recall Signatures To Be Delivered Monday
MIAMI (CBS4) - The recall effort against Miami-Dade Commissioner Natacha Seijas will take another step forward Monday when nearly 5,000 signatures are expected to be delivered to the County Clerk's office for certification.
The political action committee "Miami Voice" believes it has enough signatures to complete the recall of Natasha Seijas and claims it has nearly 5-thousand signatures. "Miami Voice was required to submit 4% of the number of registered voters in District 13, a total of 3,591.
Commissioner Seijas is one of five commissioners named in the recall effort. The others are Barbara J. Jordan, Audrey M. Edmonson, Bruno A. Barreiro, and Dennis C. Moss.
The attempted recall of County Commissioners comes after the commissioners approved property tax increases for the upcoming fiscal year.
The outrage over the property tax increase led to billionaire auto tycoon Norman Braman to collect enough signatures to try and force Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez into a recall election. Those signatures are still be verified by the Clerk's office.
