Celebrating New Year's Eve In S. Florida

South Florida is the perfect place to celebrate the New Year. The weather is very mild at this time of year, compared to other parts of the country. From parades to fireworks to food, there are plenty of fun ways to ring in 2011 in South Florida.

Ocean Drive will officially be renamed Orange Drive for this exciting 3-day New Year's Celebration. The streets and beach will become one big block party leading up to the Orange Bowl.  Events will include a New Year's Eve "Jam on the Sand" hosted by Miami's DJ Irie and live performances by Leona Lewis and Natasha Bedingfield. There's also a Kid's Countdown hosted by Radio Disney, El Concierto de Año Nuevo, and Gridiron Bash Pep Rally and Concert.

A City of Miami tradition, the 35-foot neon Big Orange (one of the official time balls of our nation) will rise 400 feet to the top of its home site, the Hotel InterContinental Miami. It'll reach the top at midnight, followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Biscayne Bay and a laser light show. Prior to the Big Orange ascension, the evening's festivities will include a live DJ, and best of all, it's !all free.

Enjoy a tropical twist on New York City's New Year's Eve Celebration right in the heart of Fort Lauderdale with the city's "Downtown Countdown" celebration. It's a casual, fun-filled party in the streets with entertainment, live music, games and food and drink for the entire family. Activities will be centered in the area between Southwest Second Street between Second and Fourth Avenues.
