Top Cinco de Mayo 2016 Celebrations Near South Florida

There is a long history of Hispanic culture in South Florida, which means that the annual Cinco de Mayo celebrations are some of the best and most authentic in the country. There are dozens of locations you can find drink specials, block parties and more to celebrate and commemorate Mexico's victory in the 1862 Battle of Puebla over France (lest we forget, that is what we are celebrating). Here are some of the hot spots you should be sure to check out for this year's festivities.

With the Tequila Run, you will visit numerous bars serving Cinco drink specials throughout the night, and your $30 ticket also buys you sponsored beer at two locations. On Cinco de Mayo, Radio Bar will be hosting a mixology class featuring lessons on tequila cocktails from 7 - 8 p.m. Afterward, enjoy a celebration and dancing at the bar.

Two DJs will go head to head at this notorious celebration, where guests will also be able to find dancers, tequila shots and mariachis. One roof isn't enough to hold this massive party, which is why it will span several blocks. Ticket packages include admission to this can't-miss event, one large beer, 22-ounce souvenir cups and party favors to enhance the experience.

Sure, you can go the traditional route of celebrating Cinco de Mayo with bar parties, but why not enjoy the day out by the water? On April 30, Island Water Sports will host their 10th annual Fiesta de Shred Skim Boarding Contents, open to anyone who fancies themselves good enough to enter. Even if you're not pro, there's a division for you -- from youth to teen and adult leagues. Skim boarders will fill the waves with festive hats to mark the occasion, and despite all the fun, you can feel like you're helping a good clause, as all proceeds will go to a Kiwana's scholarship fund to enroll at-risk youth in surf clubs. Afterward, you can get those bar crawls in.

Vitamin C invites everyone to turn out in their traditional Mexican colors, bring their spirit for a great party, and they will take care of the rest. That includes local bands, mariachi brands, photo booths, drink bars and general ticket holders will even recieve a complimentary sombrero. The party will rage all night on Cinco de Mayo, from 4 p.m. on Thursday May 5 to 2 a.m. on Friday, May 6. For $16 tickets, the fun is clearly worth the (low) price.
