Miami Beach Hit And Run Led To Armed Man's Arrest

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - An early morning hit and run landed one man behind bars and led to a potentially dangerous discovery.

Miami Beach police said a few of their officers were stationed along 41st Street around 5 a.m. and watched as a BMW slammed into a Tesla and then sped off.

"You have to picture it. Just before five in the morning along 41st Street which is a busy thoroughfare in Miami Beach as people are starting to get their day ready. so this could have ended much differently," said police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez.

The BMW continued westbound and hopped the median before coming to a stop near Alton Road. Several people who were inside it fled on foot.

Two men and two women were detained. Three of them were later released.

The fourth person, 20-year-old Blake Graham, who police said got out of the car holding a loaded rifle, is now facing charges.

"Although we don't know what the intention was, I think it's safe to assume that just before five in the morning when you crash into a parked vehicle and then you're fleeing from detectives, the intentions were not good," said Rodriguez.

Police believe the driver of the BMW got away.
