Hollywood Police Investigate 'Suspicious Deaths' Of 2 People, One Found On The Beach

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - Hollywood police are working two scenes, just blocks from each other.

The first is on the beach at Fillmore Street, where someone walking on the beach found the body of a woman in the water and called police at around 2:30 a.m.

Police said the woman appeared to be middle-aged.

Evidence markers had been placed near the scene, as police combed the area for clues.

They have not said how she died, but they are investigating it as a 'suspicious death.'

Shortly after police cleared the scene on the beach, they concentrated their attention two blocks away on an apartment on New York Street.

First, they tried to get through the front door but then realized the window was open. An officer was boosted up and in. Moments later, he opened the front door. Officers went in, only for a moment, then came out quickly.

It has many wondering what's happening.

"That's really scary because we saw that something was happening and we were interested for exactly happened during the night because we stay here and want to be safe," said tourist Kate Badolka.

Police confirmed they found the body of a man inside the residence.

They are also calling his death as 'suspicious.'

Authorities believe this is not a random act of violence and are saying both people knew each other.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hollywood police at 954-764-4357 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
