Hollywood Mother Of Three Shot, Killed At Apartment Building

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - A mother of three children was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in Hollywood.

It happened at an apartment building at 5502 Washington Street.

Victoria Bain said she was told her sister, Corretta, was shot by her boyfriend and that he drove off in her 2018 Nissan Maxima.

Bain said she did not know what led to the shooting.

"I just know that I've lost a little sister. I don't really know what happened, she got shot from I'm being told," she said. "I'm not sure if it was an altercation or what but I lost a little sister."

Hollywood police said they received a call around 4:30 a.m. about a disturbance at the building, the caller said they thought they heard gunshots. When fire rescue arrived they pronounced a 30-year-old woman dead on the scene.

Family members said Corretta was a good mother who had turned her life around.

"She was a postal worker and she was a good girl," said Bain through tears. "She got three daughters and I have to now go and explain that their mom is not waking up, she's not gonna be back home."

While the police wouldn't say if they were looking for a suspect, Bain's family was united in pointing the finger at the man she had been dating for several months.

"He shot her in cold blood and left," she said. "She just recently got the car, it's clean, it doesn't have any scratches, it has dark tints, so if you see it please, please."

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
