Police Investigate Fatal Shooting In NW Miami-Dade

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman in Northwest Miami-Dade early Wednesday morning.

Police said a 31-year-old woman was shot and later died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, two others were grazed by bullets.

The shooting took place at around 1 a.m. in the 2000 block of NW 62nd Street, police said.

Friends have identified her as Dynette Early, a single mother of three.

"She was loved by the whole community. Why would you take her life like that?" her friend Layla said.

According to Layla, Early was supposed to attend an event at Martin Luther King Jr. Park but was not feeling well.

She said she was outside her apartment complex when she was shot.

"Her kids came running and the child said, 'Mama, wake up, wake up mama,' but mama was gone."

Those grazed by bullets are a 36-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman.

No other information was immediately available.
