Souls To The Polls Bringing Several Congregations To Vote Early

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A caravan of motorcycles roared into the South Dade library parking lot Sunday Afternoon leading hundreds of churchgoers to the polls for one of the largest 'Souls to the polls' events in South Florida on the last day of early voting.
Organized by more than a dozen church pastors and AFSCME union members it's estimated at least 1,000 people voted at the South Dade Library early voting site
on Sunday.
"We've seen what happened last go round so we are getting everyone involved," said Warren Gibson with St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church.
"All of us worked together. There is strength in numbers," said Pastor Carlos Malone of Richmond Heights.
There was food, games for kids and music at the South Dade event.
In Broward County, there were other Souls to the Polls events at the African American Library and at the Lauderhill early voting site.
"When we say our lives depend on it, they really do. So we need everyone to come out," said Marcia Ellison with the NAACP.
"I think turnout is significant and people are excited about Andrew Gillum, this is his backyard said union organizer Jacqui Carmona at the Dade event.
Late Sunday afternoon Gillum stopped by The South Dade event energizing voters.
There are 28 early voting locations in Miami-Dade, 22 in Broward.
It doesn't matter which location you go to as long as it's in your county.
