NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) — North Miami Beach police are asking for the public's help in solving a homicide and a close friend of the victim is telling CBS4 that the victim was a 23-year-old married mother of a small child.

Police are not confirming that but the close friend tells CBS4's Peter D'Oench that the victim lived with her husband and their child in a home on the corner of N.E. 16th Ave. and 160th St.

North Miami Beach Police spokesman, Capt. Juan Pinilos said police responded to the home at 6:30 after a call from a neighbor.

"Officers arrived and confirmed that there was an adult deceased inside the residence and they are treating this as a homicide," said Pinilos. "A neighbor received information that somebody inside the home was deceased which prompted that person to call police."

Pinilos said police were not able to release details about the victim until next of kid had been notified. He said he believed the victim had been dead for less than 24 hours. He also could not say how that person was killed or where the body was found.

A block away from the crime scene, family members and friends gathered and were briefed by detectives.

They were releasing few details.

One of them told D'Oench, "I was told by detectives not to speak to anyone so I can't."

"Would you like to see someone come forward to help out," he asked.

She replied, "I am waiting for police to get back to me to see what I can say."

Pinilos said police need help with this case.

"The loss of a person's life is something we take very seriously," he said. "We are sorry for the family that they have to go through something like this. If anyone has any information we ask that you please call us."

Pinilos said no detail is too small.

"If anyone saw anything in the early morning hours, if anyone heard anything on the street, I can say that any tips will aid us in the investigation," he said.

Pinilos said anyone with information that can help should call North Miami Beach Police at (305) 848-5500 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
