Detectives have been interviewing people in the area trying to get to the bottom of what happened.

CBS4 spoke to the parents of the man who was killed.

They say he was only 23 years old and was hanging out with friends when this happened.

Police have not identified the detective who they say fired his gun, but tell CBS4 that he has been with the Florida City Police Department for three years.

His father, Levi Simon says, “He’s (Juvan) not a troublemaker, in fact he grew up here and those people he was with are his friends. We’ve lived here for 17 years.”
