Man Found Unconscious In Stairwell Prompts Homicide Investigation

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police are trying to piece together what happened to a man found unconscious, prompting a homicide investigation in Allapattah.
A call came in at about 5:40 a.m. about the unconscious man found in a stairwell at an apartment complex near NW 13th Ave and NW 24th Street.
When police arrived, they realized it was a crime scene.
"We're still trying to piece together the puzzle as to exactly what occurred. What I can confirm at this time is that we are actively working a homicide scene where the victim was shot," said Officer Christopher Bess with the Miami Police Department.
Chopper4 was over the scene around 7 a.m. where a large group of police could be seen in the area of the shooting.
Investigators spent the entire morning speaking to people who live nearby and looking for clues.
"Our detectives are currently working on different evidence that was found on the scene as well as possible leads. We are still in the very, very beginning of our investigation," said Officer Bess.
People who live nearby are obviously worried, wondering what led up to the shooting that took a life.
"It makes me feel a little bit concerned. I live in the building. Where I live is seniors, very calm. This happened in front of us," said Raisa Rickie who lives nearby.
