FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Bullets riddled a Fort Lauderdale duplex overnight sending one person to the hospital.

Just after midnight, some inside a vehicle fired several shots at a duplex in the 1600 block of NW 24th Avenue. The vehicle then sped off.

"It was gunshots, 'boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,'" recalled Robert Barfield.

The shots Barfield heard came from a block away.

One house was fired on at least five times. No one was hurt there, but across the street a 15-year-old girl wasn't so lucky.

"She was in the bed sleeping, a bullet went through the window and hit her in the leg," Barfield said. "It's just a scary thing."

She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. Her family told CBS4 she's doing fine but may require surgery.

A woman who asked us to keep her identity private says her brother lives in the bullet riddled home.

"It's gotta stop. It really gotta stop. It makes no sense," she said. "Too many kids around here."

A family member of the teen said that this is not the first time someone has shot at the house and it's been going on for about a month.

Neighbors said they didn't see anything.

Police have no description of the shooter or the car the gunman was in.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
