MIAMI (CBSMiami) –More doctors than ever are suffering from psychological distress or mental health issues – but many avoid getting treatment.

According to a study by the Mayo Clinic, nearly 40 percent said they would hesitate to seek help for burnout or other emotional issues.

But why?

They admit it’s because they’re worried they could lose their medical license.

  1. Stigma. If it affects doctors, just think of how it affects your average Joe. Stigma is preventing some of the most educated people in our society from getting help for mental health. Sad.. and stupid. If you don’t take of your mental health.. no one else is going to do it for you.
