MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two young children and their mother have been found dead in their Southwest Miami-Dade home. It was a murder-suicide, according to Miami-Dade Police.

Police told CBS4 News a man came home at 12:30 p.m. and found his two kids and his 29-year-old ex-wife dead – all killed by apparent gunshot wounds.

Late in to the night, Miami-Dade Police blocked off the street in front of the house on 253rd Street and 132nd Avenue near Homestead.

The medical examiner loaded the three bodies they found inside in to the van.

Two of those bodies belonging to children – an 8-year-old girl and a 1 ½-year-old boy.

"The preliminary investigation that this is possibly a murder suicide," said Det. Argemis Colome.

Neighbors are shocked.

"On my way to pick up my daughter from school, it was blocked off and I knew something serious had happened, something really serious happened," said Tamera Middlebrooks.

"It's kids we are talking about. Kids, very young," added Jahoska Chavarria. "We never saw them and they are pretty new to this neighborhood."

Police have not released the identities.

It's unclear if a domestic issue was a part of the motive or what kind of relationship they had.
