MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Heat reserve center Willie Reed has been arrested following an alleged altercation with his wife.

Reed was taken into custody around 3 a.m. Sunday morning on a charge of misdemeanor battery. According to the arrest report, he became upset when his wife told him she wanted a divorce.

A struggle ensued between the two, which led to Reed's wife being knocked to the ground and dragged, per the report.

Reed later grabbed her by the hair as she attempted to leave with the couple's youngest child.

The report goes on to say that when Reed twisted his wife's arm, causing her to knee to the ground, she grabbed a glass candle and struck him in the back of the head.

She then went down to the building's lobby and called the police.

Reed, 27, signed with the Los Angeles Clippers as a free agent in July after spending one season with the Heat.

Following an investigation, Reed was arrested at the downtown Miami residence, and taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He bonded out of jail around noon on Sunday.

During his time with the Heat, Reed was a solid bench contributor. He averaged 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds last season while shooting 56.8 percent from the field.
