Orlando City Soccer Star Cyle Larin Arrested For DUI

ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) — One of the biggest starts on the Orlando City Soccer Club found himself behind bars.
Orlando City star Cyle Larin has been arrested on a charge of drunken driving.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the 22-year-old Larin was arrested early Thursday after driving the wrong way on an Orlando street.
Another car just avoided a head-on collision with Larin's Cadillac.
The highway patrol says tests showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.179, over twice the legal limit of 0.08.
He told the trooper he and a female companion had just left a club where he had two or three drinks.
Larin was Major League Soccer's rookie of the year in 2015, scoring 17 goals. He had 14 in 2016 and eight so far this season, which leads the team.
Orange County jail records show Larin remained held Thursday morning.
They did not indicate if he has a lawyer. The team had no immediate comment.
Orlando City lost to Miami City FC 3-1 Wednesday night at Orlando City Stadium in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.
Both the MLS and Orlando City issued statements regarding Larin's arrest.
Statement from Major League Soccer:
Orlando City SC forward Cyle Larin was arrested Thursday morning for DUI – unlawful blood alcohol content. He will undergo an assessment by MLS' Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health ("SABH") Program doctors pursuant to the SABH Policy.
Larin will not be eligible to participate in any competition or team activity, until that assessment is complete, and he is cleared for participation by the SABH Program doctors, and Major League Soccer completes its investigation. Major League Soccer will remain in close communication with Orlando City SC, local law enforcement, and the MLS Players Union during this investigation.

Orlando City SC takes great pride in the way it represents the Orlando community and expects all players, coaches and front office staff to uphold that standard at all times, both on and off the field. The Club is very disappointed in Cyle Larin's actions that resulted in these charges and does not take this situation lightly. We are working with local authorities, Major League Soccer and Cyle to take appropriate action in line with league protocol.
