MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Two suspects are on the loose following a hit-and-run in Miami that left an elderly man in critical condition.

Miami Police said the 66-year-old victim was riding his bike Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a car at 409 S.W. 8th Avenue.

"What I saw was when the man was coming on his bicycle, there was a light pole, so he got to the edge of the sidewalk and a car came and hit him," said witness Sen Estrada.

Two people left their vehicle at the scene and took off on foot, heading north on S.W. 8th Avenue.

"The car hit him and they left," said Jorge Diaz, who works nearby and also saw the accident.

Diaz is concerned, saying accidents happen much too frequently in the area.

"Almost every day there's an accident," Diaz added. "Quite often."

The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
