CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) -- Police are trying to identify a man who was spotted at a fast food restaurant allegedly using his cell phone to take an upskirt video of a woman in line.

Surveillance video from the Pollo Tropical at 2350 Douglas Road showed the victim waiting in line with her husband to order food, as another male customer waited behind them.

Moments later, while tying his shoe, he appears to strategically place his cell phone directly underneath the 35-year-old woman's dress.

According to Coral Gables Police, he bent down to place his phone "in very close proximity to her backside, and tie one of his shoes. About a minute later, the same male bent down again to his shoelace. The male again placed his phone on the ground directly behind (the victim's) backside facing underneath her dress."

The suspect then grabbed his phone, stood up and walked out of the restaurant.

An observant customer thought it looked suspicious and believed the guy was recording video. He tapped the woman on the shoulder to alert her, but by that time, the suspected video voyeur was gone.

"It was very brazen," Coral Gables Ofc. Tom Salcedo said. "To do that in public, it's brazen, and it's pretty scary to tell you the truth."

Guys like this, police say, tend to become bored with cell phone video voyeurism and move on to something more serious.

"Our concern is he might be doing it over and over, and usually with these kinds of cases it probably escalates to something else, and we're trying to avoid that," Ofc. Salcedo added.

The victim, who declined an on-camera interview, told CBS4 News she wants the story to get a lot of exposure.

"I want his face out there so he will get caught, and not do this to other people," she said.

Described as Hispanic in his 30's or 40's, he was seen crossing S.W. 37th Avenue and heading east into the City of Miami. He's got short, dark hair, stands at 5'7" to 5'9" and weighs between 160 to 180 lbs.

Anyone with any information should contact Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
