HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) -- Tens of thousands of bikers gathered for the 29th annual Toys in the Sun Run.

The yearly motorcycle parade benefits children in need. The South Florida President's Council event sees more than 30,000 bikers taking part in the fundraiser, benefiting the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation.

For some this is what they look forward to all year.

"I run a bakery and this is the one day of the year I want off. Forget about vacations, this is what I like," said Sharon Lopez. "I get a toy from everybody in my department, all from Publix bakery."

The motorcycle parade began at the Mardi Gras Casino and ended with a party at Markham Park in Sunrise, where many brought at least one new, unwrapped toy.

"I'm here to help the kids," said biker Jeff Serio. "I mean, it's a lot of fun. I got my little girl over here and my wife. And, you know, sometimes she doesn't realize that not all kids have everything that she has."

The event included non-stop live music on three stages, a massive motorcycle show, over 100 vendors, an international food court, cold beer, and soft drinks. In addition, there was an open car and truck show.

The Toys in the Sun Run, so far, has raised $16 million.

"There's people that care about where we live and, you know, that have families and its a cool deal," Serio added.

The event has been around since 1987 and will be back again next year.
