MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A mass mailing of Anti-Muslim hate letters postmarked from California has reached South Florida and the contents may be considered offensive for some readers.

It begins, "To the children of Satan, you Muslims are vile and filthy people. There's a new sheriff in town, President Donald Trump. He's going to cleanse America. Pack your bags and get out of dodge."

The letter was signed "Americans for a better way."

Mosque member Muhammad Shakir said the letter is one more part of the rancorous presidential election.

"It is hurtful. It is very un-American. It's very unfortunate that people have to still think about it like that," said Shakir. "I did not feel this kind of hate in the air even after 9/11...at this time it seems like all the weak links who have no place, no nothing are coming out."

President-elect Donald Trump, who talked of tracking Muslims and barring them from the U.S. during the campaign, afterward urged everyone to stop spreading hate.

"I say stop it. If it helps, I will say this and I'll say it right to the camera, stop it," said Trump during and interview with CBS' '60 Minutes.'

Meantime, the mosque is getting support from the South Florida community.

"I feel horrible about this and condemn this action. I pray that all people will be peaceful and loving," said a rabbi with Miami's Bet Shira Congregation.
