Florida International University head football coach Butch Davis joined the Joe Rose Show on 560 WQAM to discuss his decision to take the job at FIU, his passion for coaching and his familiarity with South Florida.

On the decision to coach FIU- “Pete Garcia reached out to me to see if I have some interest, I wanted to pick his brain.  You could not meet with anybody that didn’t have passion and enthusiasm for the program.  They have already made a commitment of almost 11 million dollars to improve the facilities.  They really wanted to dial up the football commitment.”

On being familiar with South Florida- “Instantly I can drive on I-95 and I can find all these places [I know] I just need to reconnect but it played a huge role in my decision to come here.”
