MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Coast Guard crews offloaded seized cocaine at their Miami Beach base earlier this week.

Officials said the cocaine had a wholesale value of about $11.6 million.

The 350 kilograms of cocaine was seized back on October 27th in the Caribbean.

A Coast Guard aircraft spotted a go-fast boat they thought was suspicious. From there, one of their boats and a helicopter went to check it out.

Once on board, Coast Guard officials detained five suspected smugglers and found 14 bales of cocaine.

The cocaine and suspected smugglers have since been turned over to federal law enforcement in Miami.

The investigation was part of Operation Martillo, a collaboration of 15 Western Hemisphere and European nations meant to stop the flow of illegal cargo.
