FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – As Broward's canvassing board was poring over questionable mail-in ballots, there's no question it's been a vote for the record books in the county.

"We've never seen turnout so high before, so we believe that's what we call a healthy democracy," said Broward Elections official Tonya Edwards.

Between early voting which lasted 14 days and mail-in ballots received, an astonishing 614,987 ballots have been cast in Broward. That's more than half of the 1.1 million registered voters in the county.

"I'm pretty sure the candidates had a lot to do with that," said Edwards. "People understand the importance of their vote and they're exercising their right to vote."

Election Day: What You Need To Know Before Voting

So, what does it mean if you are one of the people who hasn't voted yet in Broward and has to go to the polls on Tuesday?

"We aren't anticipating any long lines since half the people already voted. So, tomorrow should be an easy day for voters to go to their precinct and cast their ballot," said Edwards.

And it hasn't stopped. CBS4's Joan Murray saw a non-stop traffic of people dropping off their mail-in ballots at Broward's election department on Monday.

"We both voted for Trump," said a voter. "We feel that he's a businessman and that he could do better with the economy and that's what we need at this moment."

"I just think it's time for a woman. I really do," said another voter.

Even people who are hospitalized will get to choose.

CBS4's Joan Murray picked up saw Debra Rice picking up ballots to take back to Memorial Hospital patients.

"I think it was important...it's not easy when you are sick," said Rice.
