FORT LEE, N.J. (CBSMiami/AP) —  A Florida man charged with aggravated manslaughter in the death of his infant is going to trial two years later.

The Record reports Michael Marrara on Monday declined an offer that would've had him plead guilty to reckless manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. He would've received a sentencing range of 3 to 5 years in prison.

The former Fort Lee, New Jersey man whose last known address was Boca Raton, Florida, has been given a trial date of Sept. 18, 2017.

Prosecutors say a pediatrician noticed bruises on Marrara's 10-week old son, Andrew Jeremy, in February 2012.

Police found the child blue and non-responsive the following month. He later died at a hospital.

Marrara's attorney declined to comment.
