MIAMI (CBSMiami)-- The man wanted by police for allegedly taking a statue of naked Donald Trump is under arrest.

Miami Police arrested Pedro Alejandro Rodriguez, 36, on Friday. He is now facing charges of grand theft and burglary.

The statue of the nude Trump - worth $50,0000 - was on display on the roof of the Harold Golen Gallery at NW 2nd Street and 23rd Avenue in Miami's neighborhood of Wynwood before being stolen overnight Thursday.

Authorities say a witness told them he saw three guys climb up onto the roof, grab the statue and throw it into the truck.

But before the group sped off, the witness took a picture of the vehicle used in the heist and was able to get a good shot of the tag number.

Authorities later confirmed that a vehicle with that same tag number was registered to Rodriguez, eventually leading to his arrest.

The au natural statue of the GOP presidential nominee appeared earlier this month perched on top of a billboard next to a vacant piece of property at Northwest 24th Street and 6th Avenue. It was then moved to the gallery.

The statue is the product of INDECLINE, an anonymous anarchist collective. They've also placed nude Trump statues in New York, Cleveland, Seattle and San Francisco.

INDECLINE said they were contacted by Mana Wynwood to install the statue in Miami and vowed that it would remain on view until the November election.

Police have not clarified if the statue was found.
