Cruise dining  can bring to mind 'run of the mill' buffets, tons of calories and fried foods. However, MSC Cruises has changed the culinary game by teaming up with some of the world's top chefs to create culinary delight and aesthetically pleasing dining experiences. From culinary experts to specialty restaurants, here are the top five reasons MSC Cruises is an industry leader in cruise cuisine:

Introducing Celebrity Chef Roy Yamaguchi

Celebrity Chef Roy Yamaguchi is a highly decorated international pioneer in Pan-Asian cuisine and now he is one of MSC Cruises' latest culinary partner! In an effort to match the 5-star dining experience guests experience at home, MSC Cruises has collaborated with Yamaguchi to spearhead a brand new pan-Asian restaurant aboard the next-generation ship, MSC Seaside, slated to debut in Miami's Port in December 2017. The specialty restaurant will offer guests a scrumptious seafood restaurant and steak house that features a chef's table. Guests aboard "the ship that follows the sun" will experience Yamaguchi's world class creations where he combines Hawaiian cuisine with his Japanese heritage and fresh vegetable passion. As a result, guests will be privy to succulent bars: sushi, sashimi and raw and teppanyaki grills, Japanese, Malaysian and Thai Korean food made right before them.

Introducing Two-starred Michelin Chef Carlo Cracco

If cruising brings out your sweet tooth, MSC Cruises has got you covered. How about access to the makings of a world renowned chocolatier and pastry chef? MSC Cruises has collaborated with Jean-Philippe Maury, a managing partner with MGM Resorts International, where one of his shops features the biggest chocolate fountain in the world. Chef Maury's chocolaty treats will begin on MSC Divina, the Miami-based ship that sails the Caribbean, to roll out to the entire fleet, including delicious desserts for buffets, specialty restaurants and MSC's VIPs, the MSC Yacht Club. In 2017, Maury's creations will be a part of the next-generation Meraviglia ships, with specialty pastries and bakery menus available, along with a chocolate atelier with an open kitchen. A gourmet ice cream parlour and a crèperie, a small French restaurant where crepes are sold, will also be designed with Maury's collaboration aboard these flagship vessels.

Introducing internationally recognized Chinese Chef Jereme Lueng

In May 2016, MSC Lirica was the first MSC Cruises ship to cruise out of China. Known for its classic design and elegance, MSC Lirica was enlarged to incorporate more buffet, restaurant and specialty eateries on the ship. In alignment with the expansion, MSC Cruises partnered with Chef Jereme Leung, who is internationally recognized for his modern interpretation of Chinese cuisine. Through their partnership, Leung will design creative dining options with tantalizing signature dishes to satisfy the discerning tastes of Chinese guests. Leung takes inspiration from the tradition of the Masters of Shanghai and Beijing's classic regional cuisine, while exploring new territory for style and presentation that is sure to delight guests. MSC Cruises guests will also benefit from Leung's expertise in all four schools of Chinese cooking — dim sum, barbecue, wok cooking and knife work.
