MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The family of an 8-year-old girl who died after being fatally injured in a drive-by shooting has asked for the public's help in finding her killer.

Jada Page was gunned down two and a half weeks ago. Her funeral was held this past Saturday but police say those responsible are still out there.

Her father, James Page, is still nursing his gunshot wounds following the attack.

"Whoever thinks it's okay to shoot an 8-year-old is a coward," he said.

They were shot outside of his home on N.W. 101st Street and 25th Avenue, just before 6 p.m. on August 28th, as they were getting ready to head to the movie theater.

"I wasn't outside for three minutes," said Page. "I went to back up my SUV. A black car pulled up outside and the guys in there opened fire. The only thing I can think of is my kids is outside the door. I tried to get to them as quickly as possible, but I didn't make it."

Police believe Jada's father was the intended target in the drive-by shooting.

And while he survived, his daughter was laid to rest. Thousands attended her service. Afterward, loved ones gathered at a nearby cemetery to lay the little girl in her final resting place.

On Thursday, her parents vowed to never rest until her killers are brought to justice. They're asking for the public's help.

"Whoever did this, I know that if you have either children, cousins or somebody, if this happened to you, it would hurt just as bad," said Jada's mother, Rosalind Brown.

It's a pain felt by both the community and those asked to protect it.

"This little girl lost her life for nothing," said Miami-Dade Ofc. Freddy Ramirez. "This family is destroyed because someone was cowardly to shoot at the father for no reason. So please, step forward, provide some information."

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that will lead to an arrest. If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
