LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) – Family members collapsed in agony learning devastating news that three loved ones were found dead inside a Lauderhill home.

Police said a 911 call came in at 3 p.m. that three bodies were found inside the home at 3650 Northwest 3rd Street.

"At that point, my officers started the crime scene, made their notifications," said Lt. Greg Solowsky with Lauderhill police. "It's an extremely active investigation."

Lauderhill police declined to release any information on the victims, how they were killed or whether detectives are searching for a killer.

Multiple sources – including a friend of the family – told CBS4 News that the victims are an adult man, his adult son and a woman who live in the home.

Police say they are talking to family members to learn more about what may have happened.

"We're working hand in hand with family. We don't have a lot of information that we're able to release yet," said Solowsky. "This is going to be a very long proactive investigation. We're anticipating being out here through the night."

Neighbors said the people who live in the home have lived there for some time, never had any outward problems and enjoyed cooking for their neighbors.

"I'm just worried about what went on… my people dead man," said a man in the neighborhood.

Authorities said they do not believe there is an immediate threat to the community.

"We're not going to comment on whether or not we're searching because we don't want to give anybody that we may or may not be searching for a leg up. It's too early to tell," Lt. Greg Solowsky said.

Detectives say the motive in the case is unknown.
