Chipotle Tries Freebies To Lure Back Customers

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - In an effort to win back customers they lost during last year's E.coli outbreaks, Chipotle Mexican Grill is offering a couple of freebies in September to see if they'll bite.

Throughout the month, parents can score a free kids meal on Sunday if they buy a burrito, bowl, order of tacos, or salad for themselves. The free kid's meals are only for kids 12 and under.

Students are also getting a break. When they present a valid student ID they can get a free fountain drink with their entree order.

These two promotions are on top of the fast casual restaurant chain's limited-time loyalty program, which serves up free entrees after a set number of purchases.

The company's promotion comes at a time when they are being sued by their employees, nearly ten thousand of them, for unpaid wages. They claim that Chipotle made them punch out after their shift and then kept them working without pay. The practice is known as wage theft.

Chipotle has denied any wrongdoing and said the class action suit is without merit.
