Plantation Soccer Coach Accused Of Sexually Abusing Teen

PLANTATION (CBSMiami) - A soccer coach who used to teach at a private school school in Plantation is accused of sexually abusing a student over several years.

The girl began taking private lessons from coach Juan Ramos, 43, who she met while playing for the Plantation Eagles Soccer Club. At the time she was 10 years old, while he was 27.

In 2003, when the girl was 13 and in seventh grade, she started attending American Heritage School. Ramos was a soccer coach there as well as a substitute teacher.

After school, he would drive her to various parks for her private lessons. According to police, the two would engage in sexual acts at the parks.

Over the course of four more years, the pattern allegedly continued.

During the teen's sophomore year, when she was 16, they reportedly had sexual intercourse on the school campus.

On August 13th, the police were contacted. They had the teen set up a meeting with Ramos over the phone. During that meeting, on August 24th with the police listening in, Ramos admitted to having sexual contact with her from the time she was 14 to 20 years old.

Ramos was taken into custody and charged with multiple counts of sexual battery on a minor from someone in a custodial position.

On hearing of Ramos' arrest, the Plantation Soccer Club issued the following statement.

"Juan Ramos has been suspended indefinitely from Plantation Soccer pending the outcome of the investigation of allegations against him."

According to his LinkedIn profile, Ramos has also been a coach with Cypress Bay High School in Weston and the Kendall Coalition Soccer Club. He also listed himself as a member of the U.S. Soccer Federation's scouting network.

Ramos is currently being held in jail on a no bond order.
