DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) – It's happened again – another a hoverboard exploded, causing massive damage to a home.

CBS4's Oralia Ortega spoke to the Dania Beach homeowner, who is thankful that everyone is OK.

Lawrence Gaalswyk said a noise in one of his kids' bedrooms startled him.

"I heard a pop and bang. I was working right there in my office. I thought it was somebody at the door. I came and saw an orange glow on the wall and I saw chunks of burning plastic and parts flying across the floor," he said.

He said what he saw flying was his kid's Hoverboard.

"It was blowing up. It was very colorful. It was exploding, chunks flying everywhere," he explained. "So I went and killed the power and I went and put out the small fire and I turned around in the other bedroom. It had already gone underneath the sofa bed and it was already a sheet of flames coming up the wall behind it."

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the 800 block of Argonaut Isle.

Once they arrived, they said they quickly worked to extinguish the fire in two bedrooms.

Gaalswyk is just grateful the damage wasn't worse.

"Good thing I was here," he said. "If I hadn't been here, I'm sure the whole house would have been gone."
