MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Homicide detectives looking into a missing person case from 1982 were led to a home in NW Miami-Dade Tuesday afternoon.

Chopper 4 was over the home located at 19477 NW 54 Place.

Detectives with the help of public works crews could be seen digging up the concrete patio behind the residence.

Police would only say they were working a lead on a hugely cold case - a missing person case.

"They have not released that to me as of yet. They did advise me that the case is from 1982 and it is a missing person case they are following  up on," said Robin Pinkard with Miami-Dade Police.

The police continued to dig - assuming for a possible body - given homicide detectives were calling the shots. The dig comes after cops obtained a search warrant in the 32-year old case.

The next door neighbor was kept in the dark.

"Nothing. All they said is that they are looking for a missing person. That's all they said," said neighbor Terry O'Brien.

Police sources told CBS4's Gary Nelson to even release the name of the missing - presumably murdered person - for more than three decades ago would tip-off those who may have been involved.

At the time the victim went missing, property records suggest the townhouse was owned and occupied by at least one of the current residents.
