MIAMI (CBSMiami) — With free agency set to start next week, six of the NBA’s most elite teams are rumored to be in the running for the season’s most-coveted player, Kevin Durant.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Miami Heat are among those teams that include the Thunder, Warriors, Spurs, Clippers and Celtics.

Free agency begins July 1st at 12:01 a.m. ET and ESPN has reported that the Warriors and Spurs are sending their stars to meet with Durant, the league’s hottest free agent since LeBron James decided to leave Cleveland and take his “talents to South Beach” in 2010.

Durant was named Rookie of the Year in 2008 and has been selected to the NBA All-Star team for the last seven years. He won the league MVP in 2014 and led the league in scoring four times, including three straight years from 2010 to 2012.

In team news, the Heat are also contending with the Lakers and Mavericks, both of which are pursuing Hassan Whiteside.
