ORLANDO (CBSMiami) -- With the innocent lives taken, dozens more injured and hundreds of loved ones devastated after the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, the city of Orlando is offering their biggest resources to lend support.

"Today we continue the road to recovery and we know it will be a long road for the families, victims injured, friends, those were at Pulse and witnessed the event, as well as our first responders, and anybody that has been involved in that," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

Along with federal, state and local agencies, the city has opened "The City of Orlando Family Assistance Center" at Camping World Stadium, the site formerly known as the Citrus Bowl. It's a place where victims and their families will be provided with all the necessary support in one place.

"We have child and family service, grief counseling, crime victim services, lodging, funeral services. Transportation airlines have stepped up to provide travel to and from, language translation and more," said Dyer.

The silver lining, he said, was that in the midst of horrific tragedy, they were coming together.

"Last night, we were at a nondenominational prayer service, had representatives from many different churches and religions, many from the LGBT community. A lot of reflection by those who may not have been supportive of that community in the past and there was some healing, I think. More understanding. And embrace diversity and equality," said Dyer.
