MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It was a race to a register Tuesday as Miami Dolphins players rushed up and down the aisles of a Plantation Publix for a good cause.

Neighbors 4 Neighbors teamed up with the Miami Dolphins to help needy families score some much needed groceries.

Linebacker Kiko Alonso showed his best defensive moves navigating the vegetable aisle with Katrina Jackson and her three kids.

"He actually gave us an idea about some sausage dish with plantains," she said. "It was good!"

"I think they might have their pantry packed for a month," Alonso said. "It's great."

Teammate Jelani Jenkins tackled the event head on.

"What's harder, the team workout or this?" CBS4's Joan Murray asked.

"Tackling the meat department," Jenkins joked.

Fortunately, Jenkins had help from the Watsons and their seven daughters.

"As parents, it's a struggle," said Shareae Watson.

Each family is given $250 to spend, but sometimes it ends up being more and the Fins make up the difference.
