Tractor Trailer, Car Collide In The Florida Keys

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- An investigation is underway into what caused a tractor trailer and car to collide in the Florida Keys overnight.

Crews airlifted two people to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies said the semi-tractor trailer collided with a vehicle near mile marker 38 around 12:30 a.m.

As authorities investigated the scene, they closed down north and southbound traffic intermittently until about 5 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol is the lead investigating agency in the case.
