MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Sorry kids, the party is off.

A "one night only" party at the King of Diamonds Gentlemen strip club in north Miami-Dade aimed at middle and high school students to celebrate the end of the school year has been canceled after parents and politicians expressed their outrage.

The party, promoted by TRAP Music Ent., was set for June 9th -- the last day of the school year. According to posts on Instagram and other social media channels, the tickets were on sale from April 8-May 20, 2016.

Pictures on the promoter's social media accounts showed what appeared to be students with tickets posing in front of schools. The promotional material said the party was 'guaranteed' to sell out.

"King of Diamonds, which is an adult entertainment strip club should not have anyone in the club under 18. My office has received calls from parents who are very upset that this would of have been allowed to happen said State Representative Barbara Watson. "This sends the wrong message to our youth and should not be allowed to happen."

"Although I've been told there would be no alcohol served or dancers present, the primary function of this venue is still a gentleman's club. If you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig," said Miami-Dade Commissioner Barbara Jordan.

Jordan actually visited the club and expressed her concerns.  In the end, the club's owner agreed not to hold the party.
