The annual event is now known as the “Stacey Konwiser Memorial, Save the Tiger 5K.”
The race was a sellout for the first time and proceeds went toward the Stacey Konwiser Tiger Conservation Fund, which supports tiger conservation and will provide scholarships for zookeepers.MORE NEWS: CDC Issues New Covid-19 Guidance For The Holiday Season
Konwiser died after entering the tiger cage with the animal still inside. Officials with the Palm Beach Zoo said that violated their rules.
