DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins have signed defensive end Cameron Wake to a two-year contract extension for $15 million.

The deal will keep Wake in Miami through the 2017 season.

"We are pleased that we were able to reach an extension with Cam," said Executive Vice President of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum. "He sets the right example both on and off the field, working his way up from an undrafted college free agent to a four-time Pro Bowl selection. We are excited how he will fit in this new defense and continue to be a key contributor."

Wake, 34, is coming off a season-ending Achilles injury that he suffered after seven games last season.

He has been named to the Pro Bowl following the 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons.

During his seven seasons with the Dolphins, Wake has played in 100 career games and recorded 247 tackles, 74 tackles for loss, 70 sacks, 145 quarterback hits, 16 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Wake is one of just two NFL players to total at least seven sacks in each of the past six seasons, with Julius Peppers being the other.
