Bond Granted For Woman Charged In King Carter Murder Case

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — A woman accused of tampering with evidence in the murder investigation of six year old King Carter has been granted bail.

On Wednesday, a judge set bond at $40 thousand for Tameka Thompson. When she's released, she'll be on house arrest with a GPS monitor..

Thompson is charged with two counts of evidence tampering.

Investigators said she hid the car believed to have been used in the killing of Carter who was caught in the crossfire between feuding teenagers.

Thompson is the mother of Leonard Adams, 18, one of three teens arrested in King's death.. She paid a friend $50 to get rid of the car, according to the arrest report.

Tamar Teems, 16, reportedly confessed to being in the car on February 20th when Adams and Irwen Pressley, 17, went to the Blue Lake Village apartment complex at 1205 NW 103rd Lane to settle an online feud with a person nicknamed "Ju Ju."

After spotting their intended target in a stairwell, both Pressley and Adams reportedly got out of the car and began shooting at him.

"Ju Ju" fired back. At some point Carter, who had gone out to buy candy, was hit.

Both Adams and Pressley then got back in their car and sped off.

Adams and Pressley are facing attempted first degree murder and second degree murder charges.Teems is charged with attempted murder and second degree murder.

Carter's death sparked rallies and protests in South Florida, calling for an end to violence that keeps claiming the lives of teens and children in Miami-Dade County.
