MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Nearly a dozen Cuban migrants came ashore Tuesday morning in the Florida Keys.

Nine migrants arrived around 6 a.m. near mile marker 96.4 of the highway, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The group included seven males and two women. All of which were in good condition.

A picture was released of the row-boat on which the group came in. The boat looked seemingly deteriorated with what looked like a makeshift sail laying on the boat.

Deputies turned the migrants over to Customs and Border Protection officials for processing.

It is unknown how long the group was out at sea.

Their arrival comes at a time when a larger number of Cubans are fleeing the island nation amid renewed relations between the U.S. and Cuba. It's something that is raising concerns among those on the Communist island who suspect the U.S. may stop an immigration policy that allows Cubans to stay in the U.S. if they reach land.
