MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Sweetwater police officer has been arrested for his involvement in a 2015 crash.

Video obtained exclusively by CBS4 News captured as Alejandro Ramos was taken to jail.  He is facing a charge of official misconduct by a public servant.

In another video obtained exclusively by CBS4 News last July, a Sweetwater patrol car rolls slowly through an intersection to get to a nearby police scene where officer back-up had been requested.

Seconds later, the video shows a second cruiser blowing through the red light and colliding with an oncoming pick-up truck on Flagler Street and SW 107th Avenue.

The patrol car, driven by Ramos, never stops and doesn't seem to slow down.

However, a written report from the February 17th crash states Ramos stopped at the red traffic signal which is Sweetwater policy.

Again, that report doesn't matchup with the red light camera. According to American Traffic Solutions, Ramos' patrol car was going 50 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Ramos was ultimately cited for the crash.

"It's an unfortunate day whenever we have to take into custody one of our own however when one breaches the public trust one needs to be held accountable cover ups are not tolerable nor will it be the norm anymore," said Sweetwater Police Chief Placido Diaz.

FHP voided the citation issued to the other driver, Giobel Diaz Gonzalez, involved in the accident
