Clinton, on a two-day trip to California, arrived to the San Francisco home as about a hundred protesters, many who appeared to be wearing official Sanders campaign shirts and merchandise, chanted and banged on pots and pans.
Protesters told CBS News that the campaign had nothing to do with the protest or event.
“This is individuals,” said Cassandra Inglesby, a 27-year-old game designer. “All sorts of different people with different political views who don’t believe or agree with Hillary Clinton or Hillary Clinton’s views.”READ MORE: No Major Accidents After 'Wheels Up, Guns Down' Bicyclists Hit Miami Highways
Many, like Inglesby, explained that they were protesting big money in politics.
“It supports the notion that only millionaires, billionaires and corporations have an impact on the government,” said Inglesby, who wore white gauges emblazoned with Sanders’ logo in both of her ears. “The government should be for the people, by the people and of the people.”
Another protestor on a megaphone was more damning: “We know that this is political bribery, openly accepted in our country!”
Clinton’s event raised money for the Hillary Victory Fund and guests paid minimums of $33,400 to attend. Premium seats near Clinton and Clooney and his wife Amal went for $353,400 per couple, according to the invitation.MORE NEWS: Butler Gets Triple-Double, Heat Hold Off Raptors 104-99
