WASHINGTON (CBSMiami) – “I consider Marco a friend.  Anyone would naturally look at Marco for the No. 2 position on the Republican ticket.”

Those are the words from Sen. Ted Cruz about former rival Marco Rubio when asked whether he could see a Cruz-Rubio ticket in his race for the White House.

“Look, anyone would naturally look at Marco as one of the people who would be a terrific person to consider for VP and we’re in the process now of considering a number of different options,” said Cruz to CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Wednesday night during a town hall interview.

Cruz and Rubio, from South Florida, often butted heads on the campaign trail before Rubio dropped his bid for the White House after losing the Florida Republican primary in March.

Cruz says they’ve put their differences behind them and isn’t ruling Rubio out in his search.

“He would be someone that you’d be a fool not to look at seriously. He’s very very talented.”
