MSC Cruises, the world's largest privately-owned cruise company and market leader in Europe, South America and South Africa, understands that the cruise industry is continually evolving. The cruise line has been creating ways to attract first time cruisers as well as entice existing cruise enthusiasts to continue choosing cruising as a practical and affordable vacation option.

So the Swiss-based cruise company is taking creativity and innovation to new heights with the design of the biggest and most innovative cruise ship ever built by a global European-based cruise line: MSC Meraviglia. The innovative architecture and cutting-edge technology of the new MSC Meraviglia promises a cruise experience that's perfect for the 21st century.

The technological advancements alone are ground-breaking and will include Near Field Communication technology which will allow guests to make onboard payments, access their staterooms or geo-locate their children simply by using a smart phone or bracelet. Additionally, the onboard Wi-Fi experience is expected to improve providing consumers with faster Internet speeds and lower rates.

MSC Meraviglia will also accommodate the increase in multigenerational travel with the addition of new categories of staterooms, called Family and Super Family staterooms. These will be open modular family-connected staterooms that can be sold as either 3 standard staterooms or combined to make a family stateroom that can accommodate up to 10 people.

Never before seen at sea, MSC Meraviglia will include an astounding 5,167-square-foot LED screen similar to a digital sky, which forms the entire ceiling of the ship's interior promenade.

MSC Cruises has always been committed to safety and protecting the environment and guests can expect no less from the new builds. MSC Meraviglia will go through a lengthy development process to create a cleaner, smarter, more efficient ship. It will be water emission free, and its hulls and propulsion systems will be optimized for extreme energy efficiency. In addition, scrubber technology will neutralize fumes and CO2 emissions in accordance with the latest international maritime regulations.

MSC Meraviglia is the first of two identical ships on order from STX France, the second of which will be entered in to service in 2019.
