Keys Hotel Named Most Eco-Friendly Resort In U.S.

KEY WEST (CBSMiami) -- A Key West hotel has been recognized for its environment-friendly practices and accommodations as the best in the country.
Travel and booking site TripAdvisor® announced their top 10 green properties around the U.S., noting their service, amenities and commitment to sustaining pro-environment practices.
Coming in at #1 was Key West's The Gardens Hotel. Located just steps from Duval Street, the hotel is set within the historic estate of the Peggy Mills Botanical Gardens and not only features a floral sanctuary but also uses recycled products, solar-powered energy and composts its food waste.
"The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the wine bar is super cool. Location is perfect and the staff really makes you feel at home," suggested one TripAdvisor reviewer.
Average rates per night cost $375 with its most affordable month in September, where prices book about $247 a night.
