MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two young adults are hospitalized after they were shot in southwest Miami-Dade late Thursday night.

The shooting happened at 20420 SW 114th Court around 11 p.m.

Area residents said they heard approximately five shots.

"I heard four shots, four straight shots, like boom, boom, boom, boom," said Arthuro Quintero.

"I come outside and hear six shots," said Mark Reid.

Mark Reid said he saw a man, who had been shot in the lower body, laying on the ground. He identified him as 18-year old Eddie Yoo, the father of a young boy. Reid said he's known Yoo for years.

"He was like 'Mark, yo, pick me up, take me to the hospital' and I was like 'I can't touch you'," said Reid.

Reid said the second person who was shot, a 20-year old woman, had been hit the shoulder. He added "we saw a guy on a bike taking off, one of my neighbors said that was the shooter."

The injured male and female were airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center.

Sources said the shooting may have been drug related.

"Nowadays, the things that are going on with teenagers, you kinda like have to understand that they're doing their own thing, and things are happening, you know like fights and girls, but they took it too far this time," said Reid.

One man who lived two doors down from the shooting scene said he has two young daughters. He said shooting scared him and he's worried.

"That's not right, there is no reason why people have to have a gun with them," he said. "We live in a society where we should love each other and shouldn't have guns."

A family member of the woman said she was shocked and frustrated when she heard what had happened.

"Why are people shooting people, they don't have nothing else better in life to do? Go to school. Get a job. Do something with your life," said Brenda Jones.

Police have not said what prompted the shooting. They urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
